Updated with drag-and-drop installation. If you’ve downloaded any existing pre-patched torrent of the game, the update process is the same.

  1. Just a heads up that there’s a lot of missing commas and some missing periods in the script. Might be worth doing a pass if you intend to make an updated release later.

    Great job otherwise!

    1. Edit: Every instance of missing code for commas and periods have been fixed. Also removed remnants of code for italic and bold text.
Originally, keywords such as “qi”, “wo dao” and “qigong” had tags to make them appear in bold or italic text. I chose to remove this entirely from this version, as it does not mesh well with the font.

      Thanks for the feedback.

    1. Compared to the original, the CGs are less revealing, while the script has had 3 or 4 lines per scene cut.
Considering how awful the art is in the original game, it could be viewed as an improvement either way.

      1. I don’t think I like the direction in which this remake has gone. I don’t really care that they toned down the cg’s, but I’m not happy about the toned down rapeyness of the rapey scenes.

In the original, the opening scene was pretty unsettling for me, and took a few large steps into establishing the gang and the city as just a despair-filled, rusty, sordid place.

In the new version, far from disturbing, it’s just some dude having sex with an apparently frightened robot.

  2. Thanks for your hard work. Would it be possible to upload the patch somewhere else as the mediafire links seem to be broken for some reason (redirect to blank page called downloadxxxx.mediafire).

  4. Yo, dude. Reporting a typo: right in the beginning of the game when the protag reaches Zhang’s penthouse you can spot an “anyonein” there.

    1. I’ll sort it out in the next revision.
The next one will likely be a big one, having some substantial QA based on the feedback as well as likely including a completely re-done config menu and some blank files to replace some of the default menu art that my patch doesn’t touch but look out of place.
I didn’t think of it when I first uploaded the patch, so that’s a big derp moment on my side.
Might re-do the “time played” display and have it actually appear on the save/load screens.
I initially removed it as it was kind of useless and looked out of place with my new design.

I’ve recently been building a new PC from scratch, so that has taken up most of my time.
The next revision is likely due before next friday.

      Thanks for the feedback.
That’s the kind that saves me time!

  5. How do I know if 1.02 properly installed? It keeps saying 1.00 on the top of the window, or is that supposed to be there? Thanks!

    Like

    1. Oh, yeah.
I forgot to update system.nss so that it displays 1.02 in the window.
As long as you have the files from the 1.02 archive, you’re good to go.
There have been no changes to other files than nss.npa since the initial release.

In other news; the full QA patch has been delayed a bit.
I’ve thoroughly gone through chapter 1 through 4 and corrected every single error as well as made the text fit the textboxes even better.
It’ll take me at least another 3 days to finish up the rest since I can’t spend all my free time on it at the moment.

That said, no reason to hold off playing if you’re not OCD about minor errors like me.

      1. I’ve finished two rounds of QA on the script.
I’ll do one last playthrough of the game on thursday and have the version which will be considered final out on friday.
Of course, I’ll update things based on feedback, but there won’t be any glaring flaws such as missing commas, periods, split voiced textboxes and so on left.

  6. Thank you so much for taking your time in making this patch. Recently finished the VN and thought it was really good. The remake definitely added things and probably made it a better experience.

Everything’s fine, the extract file shows the files being extracted leading me to the next step of dragging the cg folder into the directory. It says it should overwrite what was extracted but that option doesn’t come up because the files never showed up.
The game itself is in English but the menus are not. What am I doing wrong?

  9. Hello Tawm, thanks for the work you put into this patch, it’s awesome. I was wondering if I can contact you through mail or skype ? I am interested in your patch and I wanted to know if it’s possible to use your work for a translation project.

    1. Hi. You’re free to use my work as you please, but I can’t give consent to the translation itself, as it was ported from TLWiki’s original Kikokugai release. As long as it’s not used for profit, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind. I sure didn’t ask for permission.

On a side note, I had a full overhaul of this patch with font choices, redone portraits, textboxes, horizontal menus and several rounds of QA ready for release, but something that may or may not have been bogus came up and I decided against updating the patch. That may change if things don’t pan out.

Also, I’m too lazy to log in with my account.

      Tawm.

      1. Ok i’ll ask TLWiki. By the way, what tools are you using to extract and repack the game ?

  10. Hi TAWM, I’m having the exact same problem as this poster from a while ago:

I’m having a bit of trouble installing the patch, specifically where it says to drag extract cg.npa.bat and re-pack cg.npa.bat into the same folder which I’m assuming is the game directory.
Everything’s fine, the extract file shows the files being extracted leading me to the next step of dragging the cg folder into the directory. It says it should overwrite what was extracted but that option doesn’t come up because the files never showed up.
The game itself is in English but the menus are not. What am I doing wrong?

Basically the extracting bat file doesn’t seem to create the cg folder that it’s meant to, so there’s nothing to overwrite when I paste in the cg folder from the patch. Can you help?

    1. I’ve updated the patch with a drag-and-drop installation process. A year ago, I didn’t have the knowledge about the N2System engine that I do now, thus I was unaware that you could use its update system to replace files without datamining. In hindsight, I should’ve made this minor update a long time ago.

I re-downloaded, but im still facing the same issue. Extracted all the .npa files, nothing changed. Tried setting locale aswell. Any idea what might be the cause/how can I fix it?
